HOW DOES LPG HELP THE ENVIRONMENT?
Have you ever wondered what affect LPG has on the environment? I did not realise how helpful LPG is for the environment until I started doing research.
Our Environment Today
The Earth is facing many environmental concerns. Some environmental problems are:
- Global Warming
- Acid Rain
- Air Pollution
- Waste Disposal
- Climate Change
And many more are affecting every human, animal, and nation on our planet. Our environment is getting worse as time goes on.
WHAT IS LPG?
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is a hydrocarbon gas that exists in a liquefied form. LPG is a colourless, low carbon and highly efficient fuel.
There are two main types of LPG Gas, Propane (C3H8) and Butane (C₄H₁₀) and can be used in several ways – BBQ, Heating and many more.
LPG boils at a low temperature and to avoid it evaporating due to its low boiling point, it is typically stored in pressurised steel vessels such as gas bottles.
HOW IS LPG GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?
LPG gas is typically cleaner than other fossil fuels, helping to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
LPG emits 15% less CO2 than Kerosene, 29% less the gas oil and 25% less than heavy fuel oil.
Unlike some fuels, LPG gas is a much friendly option for the environment. It is nontoxic and when split in a large quantity the only environmental damage is freezing of plants. Unlike some flammable gases Butane will only produce Carbon Dioxide when burned.
LPG gas is classed a Green Energy because of the low amount of Carbon emission it produces but also because of its low contamination risk. If LPG gas leaks, then it evaporates straight away and does not cause and damage to the ground, wildlife or water supply.
